If there is an immediate danger, fire or medical emergency, call 000.
Do not smoke, light a flame, operate electrical switches or use electrical equipment near a suspected gas leak. Move away from the affected area and call your gas distributor’s 24-hour emergency number from a safe location.
If the issue is with an appliance or pipework inside your property, you may also need to contact a licensed gasfitter.
Follow the instructions provided by your distributor before re-entering the area or using your gas appliances.

We understand that losing power can be disruptive. Power outages can occur for a range of reasons, including storms, scheduled maintenance and equipment failures, and are not always within our control. The information below provides guidance on what to do if you experience an outage.
If there’s an emergency or you need immediate medical attention, call 000.
If you rely on a life support machine, stick to your action plan. Learn more about Life Support.
First off, if it’s safe, take a quick peek to see if your neighbours or the streetlights around you are also in the dark. If it looks like it’s not just you, head over to Power is out across my neighbourhood for the next steps.
If the issue appears isolated to your property, contact your distributor using the details on this page.
Important: 1st Energy is not your energy distributor. For any info on power outages, you’ll need to get in touch with your local energy distributor.
Not sure who that is? You can easily find your distributor on the Australian Energy Regulator’s website.
Or, simply take a look at your 1st Energy bill – you’ll find your distributor’s name and how to contact them under ‘Faults and Emergencies’.
