Your NMI (National Meter Identifier) identifies your electricity connection. Your MIRN (Meter Installation Registration Number) identifies your gas connection.
They are linked to the property rather than the physical meter, so they generally stay the same if a meter is replaced or upgraded.
NMIs and MIRNs are usually 10 or 11 characters. Most NMIs are numeric, although Queensland NMIs can begin with letters. MIRNs are generally numeric.
Where can I find my NMI or MIRN?
- Check your latest electricity or gas bill. Your NMI or MIRN is usually shown on the first or second page.
- Ask your property manager or building administrator if you cannot locate a previous bill.
Your NMI or MIRN is different from the meter number printed on the physical meter.
If you cannot find your NMI or MIRN, have your address and meter number, or a clear photo of the meter, handy when you contact us.
