Billing

What do I do if I received an estimated bill?

What can I do?

Once we receive actual reads or complete meter data, your usage will be reconciled. That means you may see a credit or additional charges on your next bill, depending on your actual usage.

Submit an electricity meter reading

If you have a basic electricity meter and your current reading is lower than the reading on your estimated bill, you can submit a self-meter read for review. Only read your meter if it is safe to access.

  1. Take a clear photo showing all meter registers and the meter number.
  2. Include the date of the reading and complete the meter-reading form.
  3. Our team will review the reading before it is used for billing. Contact us if you need help with the reading or your bill.

Gas estimates

The process for correcting a gas estimate can depend on your account and gas network. Please contact us so we can confirm whether a self-read or a network meter read is needed.

Repeated estimates or meter access problems

If you’ve had repeated estimated bills, or it has been nearly 12 months without an actual meter read, please contact us. We can discuss meter access, a special meter read or whether a smart meter is appropriate.

First or final bills

A transfer between retailers can use an estimated meter read. Your final reading with the previous retailer and opening reading with the new retailer should match. Contact us if they do not match or you are concerned about the estimate.

Our bill explainers can help you find the readings on your bill. For the reasons an estimate happens, see Why did I receive an estimated bill?.
